You as the Associate System Engineer participates in the maintenance, administration and optimization of our company servers and application infrastructure. You will apply your technical knowledge and skills to provide a secure, fault tolerant, scalable and flexible server infrastructure for our company's operations.
Key Areas of Responsibility
It will be your responsibility to respond to and resolve support cases generated within CDW’s Remedy and ServiceNow support ticketing system
You will need to build, Install, and maintain server hardware and related software and oversee and/or complete repairs of physical and virtual infrastructure
You will need to ensure proper software and firmware patch levels on servers using Microsoft SCCM, Red Hat Satellite, and HP OneView
Remediate issues from servers reporting operating system error events and monitor servers for performance bottlenecks
Assist in the management of Active Directory, Domain Name Resolution, Certificates, Distributed File System, File Services, IIS, and Windows Application server rolls within a virtual and physical architecture
Remediate reported issues and communicate effectively with the IT Service Desk and associated Business Partners
You will follow CDW’s policies, standard methodologies and guidelines for the server infrastructure
You will install, update, and test new and existing application software versions and patch as required
Work off hours and weekends as instructed by the business
You will assist in maintaining user documentation for our server infrastructure
You will coordinate server implementations for application environments with CDW coworkers and vendors
High School Diploma or equivalent.
3 years IT systems related experience.
Other Required Qualifications
Intermediate understanding of the appropriate server Operating System and physical hardware
Ability to balance multiple priorities at a time and adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines
Shown verbal and written social skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
Technical certifications associated to the chosen professional track
ITIL, A+ or Network+, MCSA or MCSE certifications, Basic PowerShell scripting, Basic Linux administration (Red Hat Preferred)
Basic understanding of certificate management and PKI infrastructure and virtualization (VMware Preferred)
Assist in the management of Active Directory, Name Resolution, Distributed File System (DFS), File Servers, and Windows OS family.
Install, support, and maintain servers and related software for all branch offices.
Coordinate with vendors to solve problems and repair outages.
Ensure proper patch levels on server hardware and software.
Oversee with business owners to complete server project requirements.
Monitor servers for failures and performance problems.
Maintain user documentation for CDW’s server infrastructure.
Participate in business continuity planning for infrastructure.
Oversee with IT Help Desk to communicate issue status and respond to questions.
Required to participate in On-Call support rotation.
Respond to and resolve support cases generated in CDW’s support ticketing system (Remedy/Service Now).
