CDW Manager IT Communications in Lincolnshire, Illinois


The Communications Manager creates, implements, and oversees communications supporting CDW’s strategic corporate technology and operations projects as well key company and department changes. This includes the creation and development of department and project communications, change management plans, bylined articles, white papers, RFP review and development, and other internal stakeholder communications. The Communications Manager distributes executive messages, prepares presentations and internal memos, and conducts meetings to share information. In addition, the Communications Manager serves as business area liaison with Marketing and works in conjunction with the Marketing department on IT related efforts.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Develops and executes communication and/or change management strategies in support of IT and operations projects/programs.

  • Supports IT and Operations change management activities and planning, including the development of strategies and tactics, change impact analysis and audience/stakeholder assessments.

  • Develops and maintains an integrated calendar to document high- and medium-impact IT projects/deliverables by quarter to create line of sight and drive effective change management and communication planning and execution.

  • Conducts thought leadership research on communication and change management, then apply best practices in plan design, development, execution and measurement.

  • Collaborates with project teams to build integrated plans and ensure timely delivery of assets to support business needs.

  • Collaborates with project teams to develop post implementation strategies that emphasize the value of employee engagement and continuous improvement to sustain the effectiveness of solutions.

  • Writes and edits content in support of project work, coordinating with Corporate Communications as needed.

  • Ensures all change management, training and communication deliverables are in alignment with branding guidelines; ensures that communication and training assets are formatted and packaged for delivery to coworkers.

  • Supports development of department goals and plans, while tracking program success and/or suggesting corrective action based on data.

  • Measures awareness and response to key messages via periodic surveys.

  • Manages the Weekly Update, a department-wide newsletter.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or Communications – or demonstrated, equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience, 3 years of experience in communications/public relations is required.

  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft OfficeOther Required Qualifications

  • Confident communicator and presenter

  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally

  • Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Superior project and time management skills

  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude

  • Ability to navigate effectively in a changing environment and plan for future needs.Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience focusing on IT technologies and change management.

  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated competency in communications strategy, planning and implementation of plans and tactics.

  • Experience with traditional and new channels and technologies aimed to reach a broad spectrum of stakeholders in a geographically-disperse, highly-matrixed company.

  • Excellent judgement and creative problem-solving skills, including familiarity of change management principles.
