The Finance Graduate Development Program Trainee (‘Trainee’) is a member of the Finance Graduate Development Program (‘FGDP’). The FGDP is a 3 year structured program where participants undertake 4-5 rotations, of 6-9 months in length, across a variety of Finance departments. Exact rotations are based on department needs as well as the coworker’s development needs, but will typically include accounting, reporting and analysis roles. Rotations will either be based at CDW’s Chicago, IL office, or the Headquarters in Lincolnshire, IL. The Trainee must be flexible to working at either location throughout the program.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Key areas of responsibility depend on the exact role but across the entire program, responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Create and publish weekly and monthly dashboards and reports.

  • Research unusual trends and provide supporting detail to management.

  • Track metrics.

  • Analyze the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and programs, and recommend improvements.

  • Present findings and analysis to management and prepare associated trends and graphical illustrations.

  • Preparation of account journal entries and audit schedules.

  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts.

Each rotation will include involvement in a process improvement initiative, new business/product implementation, or other projects. The Trainee will need to be able to work independently on the specific tasks assigned, and present conclusions/recommendations to management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting (a Finance degree must include some accounting hours)

  • Minimum GPA: 3.0 / 4.0

Other Required Qualifications

  • Proven track record of achievement, teamwork, initiative and integrity

  • Results orientated

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with coworkers at all levels, including Senior Leadership.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Ability to prepare PowerPoint presentations
